Franchise Opportunities for Young People

Posted on October 22, 2021November 4, 2021

In 2021, we are witnessing a growing entrepreneurial spirit in younger generations, and the franchising model provides an easier step towards young people achieving their dreams of being self employed. Running a domestic cleaning franchise business provides a lot of freedom, whilst also providing a proven business plan for success and valuable support.

A growing number of young Millennials and Generation Z are showing interest in starting their own company, their entrepreneurial ambitions driven by the desire to have purpose and control over their life. Some graduates are seeking to go straight into self-employment, whilst there is also an increase in individuals having second thoughts over whether the debt incurred going to university is worthwhile or necessary to accomplish their goals.

Whilst it is certainly more common to find middle-aged individuals running domestic cleaning franchise businesses, franchising opportunities provide an option for entrepreneurs of all ages. By nature, driven young people have many of the traits needed to be successful in business, from a greater appetite for risk (or at least less fear of taking risks), to excellent digital skills, combined with a fresh perspective on managing a cleaning business.

Why young people are well suited for franchise opportunities

Here are just a few of the reasons why young entrepreneurs are well placed to excel in the cleaning franchise industry.

Opportunity to learn business systems quickly

Without experience of running a business, it’s unlikely that young people will have much familiarity with the systems involved. As a cleaning franchise has a proven business plan in place, this provides the perfect opportunity for franchisees to learn the business systems, taking advantage of the training and support provided by their franchisor. Franchisors always want their franchisees to succeed, so support and advice is always available.

Building up business management skills can take many years, but franchising opportunities offer a significant shortcut as the tools for success are provided from the start.

Young people are less set in their ways

The older the franchisee, the more likely they are to be set in their ways. In some cases, experienced business owners might feel that they know better than their franchisor, fighting against the established and proven business plan. Whilst good ideas are important for running any business, franchisees need to be able to follow the guidelines put in place in order for the franchise as a whole to continue to be successful. Young entrepreneurs are more likely to be open to the rules and systems put in place to help them succeed.

Younger franchisees likely have more time

As many older franchisees have families and responsibilities to take care of, they are less flexible when it comes to time. A major benefit for generation Z and young millennials is that they likely have more time and energy to invest in their franchise to build a domestic cleaning customer base.

Domestic cleaning franchises have low startup costs

In most cases, young people have less funds with which to start a business. The low initial cost and spend required to start a domestic cleaning franchise make this an ideal choice. Franchisees can also run their business from home rather than having to find permanent business premises to buy or lease.

Digital marketing skills

It goes without saying that younger generations are more digitally literate, which is a huge advantage when it comes to marketing a business. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn about SEO, content marketing and social media can be vital in growing a house cleaning business and generating interest in local cleaning services.

Whilst franchisors certainly provide training in marketing methods, a natural ability in digital marketing is certainly a considerable benefit to franchisees. Younger people also know how to appeal to a wider audience, staying on top of consumer trends, and targeting markets and marketing channels that some older franchisees may miss.
